Description: One of the tallest of our native eastern American deciduous trees, its wood is used for furniture and other products. The showy flowers depend on honeybees for cross-pollination and the honey is supposedly of excellent quality. Unfortunately the flowers are often borne high in the tree and are missed by the uninitiated.

Size: 70-90 feet tall and 35-50 feet wide

Shape: Somewhat pyramidal in youth maturing to oval-rounded

Flowers: Greenish-yellow tulip-shaped borne high in the tree

Fall Color: Golden yellow

Color: Bright green

Rate of Growth: Fast

Other Attributes: Native. Very large and magnificent tree. Not a tree for small properties.

Growing Conditions: Full Sun
