Japanese Zelkova (Zelkova serrata)
A very handsome tree with dark green foliage, its upright-arching branches make Zelkova a good choice as a street or driveway tree. Quite majestic with age. The Zelkova is often considered a good replacement for the American Elm tree.
Size: 50 to 60 feet high and 40 to 50 feet wide
Shape: Vase shaped
Fall Color: Yellow to golden-bronze to russet
Rate of Growth: Medium (10 to 12 feet over 4 to 6 years)
Other Attributes: Drought tolerant once established. Heat and reasonably pollution tolerant.
Growing Conditions: Plant in full sun in deep, moist, well-drained soil.
