Japanese Snowbell (Styrax japonicus)

A small, handsome, ornamental tree useful for many situations: an excellent patio tree, a nice lawn specimen, suitable for small yards, and in the shrub border. Looks nice on slopes and hillsides where its hanging, bell-like flowers can be closely observed. Tolerates some shade.

Size: 20 to 30 feet high and wide

Shape: Round

Flowers: White, slightly fragrant bell like flowers in late spring - early summer

Fall Color: Yellow to reddish

Rate of Growth: Slow

Other Attributes: Handsome gray-brown fissured bark with age, adding to winter interest.

Growing Conditions: Plant in full sun to part shade in organic, moist, well-drained soil.
