Also known as the Maidenhair Tree, the Ginkgo makes an excellent specimen tree with its unique triangular foliage and picturesque branching. Fits in well in the large landscape. Only the male Ginkgo is available for sale as the flowers and fruit on the female Ginkgo emit a foul smell. One of the oldest trees, ginkgos have been growing on earth for more than 150 million years.

Size: 50 to 80 feet high and 30 to 40 feet wide (width is quite variable)

Shape: Pyramidal in youth becoming widespread with age

Fall Color: Bright golden yellow

Rate of Growth: Slow to medium (10 to 15 feet over 10 to 12 years)

Other Attributes: Heat and pollution tolerant. An adaptable tree.

Growing Conditions: Best planted in full sun in moderately moist soil. However, it adapts to most any landscape situation.
