Bloodgood Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood')
One of the most popular red-leaved Japanese maples: the standard by which others are judged. The Bloodgood has very good deep red leaves that hold their color well into the summer. It makes a great specimen tree for the yard or near the patio.
Size: 15 to 20 feet high and wide
Shape: Upright-broad
Fall Color: Crimson red
Rate of Growth: Slow
Other Attributes: Leaves do not scorch in hot sun as much as other red-leaved types.
Growing Conditions: Plant in sun to partial shade in organic, moist, well-drained soil. Planting in too much shade will cause leaves to be greener.
Prices vary according to size, variety, and availability.
