Congratulations 2015 Grants for Gardens Winners!

MAR 23

Local schools are doing amazing projects to provide students with learning opportunities in the "outside classroom!" These projects often involve the entire school community. Stadler Nurseries is so pleased to be a part of these outstanding projects through our Grants for Gardens program. Congratulations to this year's winners:

Gar-Field High School
Woodbridge, VA
Students are renovating and expanding their Native Wildlife Garden. Their plans not only provide hands on educational opportunities for the high school students but will also include local elementary school students.

The Nokesville School
Nokesville, VA
The 4-H Club has started an After School Garden Project, which is open to all students at this brand new school.

Saint John Regional Catholic School
Frederick, MD
A large outdoor space is being created to serve as an opportunity for an outdoor classroom experience as well as a place for reflection. The lovely garden design includes trees, shrubs and perennials.

Centerville Elementary School
Frederick, MD
Students are expanding an existing Learning Garden. The planting of native plants and vegetables will tie into curriculum on organisms and plant life. Students will be learning about healthy foods and how they are grown.

Four Corners Community Nursery
Silver Spring, MD
Students, parents and staff are joining together to create a Monarch Butterfly Waystation for 2-5 year olds.

Barrie School
Silver Spring, MD
The plans to expand an existing garden will create a valuable resource for curriculum focused on garden science and nutrition education. An event for serving garden-grown foods for the entire school is in the works.
