Paperbark Maple A specimen tree of small to medium size. It has a very distinctive red-brown or cinnamon colored peeling bark. A tree not only for the plant enthusiast or collector, but, because it is easy to grow, the perfect tree anywhere an elegant specimen is desired.
Size: 20 to 30 feet high with a spread of ½ to equal the height Shape: Upright-oval to rounded Fall Color: Russet-red to red Rate of Growth: Slow (6 to 12 inches per year) Other Attributes: The exfoliating reddish-brown to cinnamon bark is its most distinguishing characteristic. Moderately drought tolerant once established. Growing Conditions: Best planted in full sun in moist, well-drained soil but is adaptable to a variety of soils. Will tolerate partial shade. Prices vary according to size, variety, and availability.
