Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea)

Scarlet Oak

A fine street and lawn specimen tree for larger areas. A nice oak for texture and form, and is quite adaptable to many habitats. Excellent glossy dark green foliage.

Size: 70 to 75 feet high and 40 to 50 feet wide.

Shape: Pyramidal in youth becoming rounded and open with age.

Fall Color: Scarlet to russet red.

Rate of Growth: Medium to fast (1 to 2 feet per year).

Other Attributes: A native. One of the last species to develop fall color before the snow flies.

Growing Conditions: Best planted in full sun in moist, well-drained soil but is adaptable to many soil conditions.
