Europeans consider the Common Baldcypress one of the finest North American trees. A stately deciduous tree with interesting texture and form. This distinctive specimen makes its greatest statement in groupings or groves. Rich green foliage appears on featherlike branches. Very adaptable to wet, dry and well-drained soil conditions. Ideal for use near water or in moist areas where few trees will prosper.

Size: 50 to 70 feet high by 20 to 30 feet wide

Shape: Tall, airy spire, columnar to softly pyramidal.

Fall Color: Russet, soft brown to a mellow orangish brown.

Rate of Growth: Medium

Other Attributes: "Knees" generally develop around trees that grow in or near water.

Growing Conditions: Plant in full sun; Very adaptable tree to wet, dry and well-drained soil conditions.
