Serbian Spruce

The Serbian Spruce is one of the most graceful and beautiful of the spruces. It has a slender trunk and short drooping branches. No other spruce grows as tall and remains as narrow. Noted for its excellent foliage, the needles are glossy green on top and have a silvery-green back side. Makes a wonderful specimen tree and also works well in groups.

Size: 50 to 60 feet high and 20 to 25 feet wide

Shape: Narrow pyramidal

Cones: Oblong shaped 1 1/4 to 1 3/4\" long are purple when young and mature to a shiny cinnamon-brown

Rate of Growth: Slow to Medium

Other Attributes: One of the most adaptable spruces. Moderately drought tolerant once established.

Growing Conditions: Grows well in part shade to full sun in rich, well-drained soil. Protect from strong, especially winter, winds.
